This morning, proceed to Puebla, the fourth largest city in Mexico, founded in 1531 and was listed under the UNESCO World Heritage in 1987. Upon arrival, visit Chapel of the Rosary, dedicated to the Virgin of the Rosary. The chapel was described as “The House of Gold” and classified as the Eighth Wonder of the World in a print from 1690. Be fascinated by the New Spain Baroque style ceilings of the chapel and paintings across the walls of the interior. In the afternoon, spend some time free at leisure strolling around Parian market, the largest and the only handicraft market in the city. Purchase some local Mexican handicrafts, potteries and traditional clothing before heading back to Mexico City.

Today, enjoy a full-day excursion to Teotihuacan, an ancient Mesoamerican city and also the city of the Gods. En route, visit Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a place of pilgrimage for millions of Mexicans and Catholic around the world. After which, be mesmerized as you reach the fascinating complex of pyramids and structures in the ancient city of Teotihuacan. Visit at Pyramid of the Sun, Pyramid of the Moon and Temple of Quetzalpapalotl. Spend some time exploring the sprawling site at your own leisure. You may wish to climb up the steep steps of the pyramids and be rewarded with awe-inspiring views of the magnificent remains of one of Mesoamerica’s most important civilizations.

This day, depart for Cuernavaca also known as the city of the Eternal Spring. Cuernavaca is known for its beautiful streetscapes, blossoming flowers, and the pleasant weather it enjoys year-round. Visit Cuernavaca Cathedral, one of the oldest colonial constructions in Mexico. Frescoes of the church interior dated from the 16th century and were discovered during the refurbishing efforts in the 1960s. Reminiscent of distinct Asian style, depicted the persecution of Saint Felipe de Jesus, the first Mexican Saint and one of the Twenty-six Martyrs of Japan. Continue to Taxco, famed for its silver jewelry production and Spanish colonial architecture. The city is considered by many as one of picturesque towns in Mexico. Be marveled by the 265-years old Church of Santa Prisca, with stone towers and a rose-colored facade in elaborate churrigueresque style, being the tallest building in Mexico since completion till 1807. Shop for renowned silver jewelries and accessories amidst its winding narrow streets of the city at your own expenses.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Merida, a vibrant city rich in Mayan and Colonial heritage. Upon arrival, proceed for your lunch before embarking on a tour around city. Be amused by its 19th century grand mansions built by wealthy plantation owners. Stop by to view Monument to the Fatherland, a landmark sculpture depicting Mexican history from the Mayans to modern days. Continue to explore the colonial-styled city and stucco-walled homes, of which many have been converted into modern galleries, museums, restaurants, and boutique hotels. Visit Palace of Merida and admire a fresco painting that represents an allegory of miscegenation in the council hall before proceeding to Montejo Walk, the grandest boulevard in the city and visit the Canton Palace, one of most ornate mansions and home to the city’s archaeological museum that houses Mayan treasures.

Today, proceed to visit two of the most impressive ancient Mayan sites in Mexico. Start with a visit to one of the top Mayan archaeological sites, Uxmal. The Uxmal ruins founded in 700AD and dominating the area is the best admired colossal Pyramid of the Magician, the impressive Governor’s Palace, the grand Nunnery Quadrangle and the Throne of the Jaguar with snakes and traditional Mayan lattice carved on the walls. The site was also depicted by many local legends and myths. Thereafter, continue to Kabah, is an ancient Mayan site filled with Puuc-style architecture and the region’s second largest ruins after Uxmal. Visit the famous Palace of the Masks, a magnificent sight of nearly 300 stone masks covering its facade by Chaac, the Mayan God of Rain. This massive repetition of a single set of elements is unusual in Mayan art and here is used to unique effect for your curious eyes.

This morning, bid farewell to Merida while you travel towards Chichen Itza, a large pre-Columbian city built by the Maya people and also listed as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. Chichen Itza is the most visited Mayan archaeological site in Mexico and the ceremonial centre of the Yucatan region. The highlight of this ancient city is the Pyramid of Kukulkan, known as El Castillo in Spanish. The pyramid with a height of 24-metres was a Mesoamerican step-pyramid with stones representation of Maya calendar. Similar to many Mesoamerican sites, the Pyramid was dedicated to the Feathered Serpent Deity associated with creation and rebirth. Next, continue to visit Cenotes, another impressive natural site at Chichen Itza. Made by a collapse of limestone bedrock exposes groundwater resulted into a natural pit, or sinkhole of approximately 60-meters deep. Thereafter, proceed to Cancun, a world-renowned tourist destination bordering the Caribbean Sea and is known for its beaches, numerous resorts and nightlife.
